National Children’s Ministries Sunday 2008
This October churches across the nation will be recognizing their most valuable commodity… their children. October 12, 2008 marks the annual Assemblies of God National Children’s Ministries Sunday, and you are invited to participate!
With a growing awareness of the importance of children’s ministries across the nation and an increased understanding of the value of strategically investing into this demographic, AG churches across America have an opportunity to showcase their God-given talents, literally.
“National Children’s Ministries Sunday is about more than just awareness,” said National Children’s Ministries Agency director Jason Noble, “it is about showcasing your entire children’s ministries team. From your volunteers to the kids they are serving to the full-time Children’s Pastor (if your church has one), Children’s Ministries Sunday is about providing the opportunity to let your congregation know why children’s ministries is so important.
This year’s theme, “reaching kids, one leader at a time,” speaks directly to the heart of the National Children’s Ministries Agency, assisting children’s leaders.
“The days of the lone ranger are over,” Noble continued. “We exist to connect with children’s leaders across the country, supporting, equipping and resourcing them in whatever ways we can. “
There are many different ways in which children’s ministries can be highlighted; some of those areas include: focusing on volunteers, highlighting your ministry and special offerings.
Volunteers are the key to providing a strong children’s ministry program that reaches and disciples children. Using this day to appreciate your volunteers can give them the support and encouragement they need. It is also a great opportunity to promote upcoming training events or leadership opportunities available within your children’s ministry.
Although your volunteers are aware of the inner-workings of your children’s ministry, the average church member probably does not. People love to see kids and watch what is happening in your church. Use this day to showcase your children and your children’s ministries team! It is a great opportunity for everyone involved!
Children’s Ministries Sunday is another great opportunity to ask your pastor to take a special offering for children’s ministries. We encourage you to choose a project people can give towards that will help your own children’s ministries team and your local community. Sometimes budgets cause a concern, so use this day to assist you in raising money for what God has called you to do!
We want to highly encourage you to take advantage of the National Children’s Ministries Sunday this year at your church.
We would love to hear what you are going to be doing for the National Children’s Ministries day. To share your thoughts and ideas please visit the CMA online forum and share your ideas under the “National Children’s Ministries Day.”
Thanks for all you do to reach kids. |
