What’s Your Dream?
From the Desk of David Boyd National BGMC Director
What is the dream that God has placed in your life? As a children’s leader, God will place dreams in your heart if you have the courage to listen. It may happen when you drive by a school and God says, “I’m going to put you in there.” It may happen when you drive by a park and God says, “You will hold services there.” It may happen when you drive by a run-down building and God says, “That’s your storefront kid’s church.”
When God attempts to drop these dreams in your heart, it’s easy to discount them by saying, I’m too busy, it couldn’t be done, or it would cost too much! BUT if you are willing to listen, God is willing to speak! Maybe it is too much for you right now, maybe it isn’t. Often a dream is achieved when one has the courage to speak it out. One could share his vision with family and friends. Yes there will be naysayers, but there are also going to be those key individuals who say, “I know the person who owns that old shop.” Or, we could have a work day and clean the place up in exchange for using it free for a year.” And, if we did it right after school, kids could stop by on their way home from school.” Suddenly, the dream is reality.
Paul says in Ephesians 1:18, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. God is able to do amazing things through our lives if we are willing to listen for His dream.
That’s my prayer for you today. Listen for God’s dream. Then speak about it until it has been confirmed and you have a plan. Then follow the dream and ask God to provide the riches necessary and the power necessary to accomplish this great task by God. Remember, He gave the dream to you.
